Lesson 3 of 3 · 8 min
Tasting and taking notes
This is the last page, so the green Finish button appears at the bottom instead of Next.
How to taste
Scoop a little coffee and slurp it quickly so it sprays across your tongue. Taste each cup, then come back to them as they cool, since flavors change as the temperature drops.
What to notice
- Aroma: what you smell before tasting
- Acidity: a bright, lively feeling, like citrus or apple
- Body: how heavy or light the coffee feels
- Flavor: chocolate, nuts, fruit, flowers, spice
- Finish: what stays after you swallow
Write a few words for each coffee and compare. There are no wrong answers, only practice.
